How to Install New Shock Absorbers

Time to install the new shock !

You can have any shock, but in this instance, the new shock is a Bilstein performance unit. If you notice in the picture of the shock, I have put the new LOWER washer and bushing on the shock stud in preparation for installment.

The next step is to slip the shock absorber up through the control-arms and spring, from the bottom. You may have to use the floor jack again on the lower control arm to give you enough clearance.

Once the shock is in, use the TOP new washer and nut to hold the shock in place. At this stage, the shock is hanging free by itself. You don't have to install the upper bushing at this time, or tighten up the upper nut, we are just using the washer and nut to hold the shock so your hands are free to install the bottom of the shock. Snug is goof enough.

On to the next step.
